We here at sc2spot have taken apart the gameplay video and painstakingly analyzed every frame for your viewing enjoyment. Read on past the jump for in depth commentary and information with video clips included.
At the onset of the video, we are presented with a view of a small group of Protoss vessels in a revamped version of the familiar Space Platform terrain. The smaller of the two types of aircraft are Phoenixes, which are specialized in dealing with groups of enemy air units with a special ability that launches missiles at all nearby fliers. The larger type is a Phase Prism, which can individually teleport in units and serves as a mobile pylon. The camera follows the units as they transverse over a Protoss base. The base contains many familiar structures such as Pylons, Photon Cannons, a Gateway, a Nexus, and an Assimilator, as well as two unknown structures that may simply be new versions of old Protoss buildings. the three Phase Prisms unload a force of Zealots before turning back in the direction from which they came. The camera switches to a view of detached Terran structures floating into position over a mineral patch. A Command Center, Barracks, and Factory land as a newly established base, along with five Dropships that deposit five squads of Marines. The camera returns to the Zealots. Zealots resemble their original counter-parts, albeit with much more pronounced psi-blades as well as a single long braid of hair. They are moved down a small slope leading out of the base. A single Zealot is engaged in combat with a group of Marines to show their new Charge ability, which allows Zealots to quickly close the distance when engaging enemies in melee The Zealot is quickly killed. The larger group of Zealots engage and kill the Marines, and it becomes clear that Marines are now armed with bayonetted rifles and a riot shield. They proceed to begin attacking the Terran base. An animated portrait of a Confederate-style Terran general appears and speaks to the player. Soon after, a group of Siege Tanks, which appear to remain functionally unchanged from Starcraft, begins firing on the Zealots, with the Command Center lifting off to avoid taking damage. The Siege Tanks make quick work of the Zealots while deployed in Siege Mode, with the Terran controller losing only two in the process to friendly fire.
